Derwentwater Ten
"The UK's most scenic 10 mile road race"
Thanks for making it another great year for our flagship event.
The weather was surprisingly kind, given the expected forecast. Thankfully the mahoosive puddle within 500m didn't dampen your spirits too much as I witnessed lots of smiling faces at the end. The wonderful marshals who make the event happen were kept entertained by the great banter exchanges as you passed. I heard the water at the midway station ran out towards the end. Turns out the waterbutt leaked enroute resulting in a rather damp car...we'll screw the lids on tighter next year. The last few competitors missed out on the the bag momentoes. This confused me considerably with phone calls this week to the supplier. It turns out it's possible to confuse a box of bags with a box of paper cups, so the bags were sitting ready to be opened when we needed more cups, hence why I couldn't locate the final box when the two we had out became empty. If you missed out, let me know and I'll save you one or post out. Sadly, we weren't able to back in time for the prize giving as we had a couple of casualties, but the prize winners have been contacted. All in all, it was a good laugh again seeing you all and I couldn't have done it without the help of the club and associated helpers. Special thanks to Derwent Hill Outdoor Training Centre who provided amazing support for the gentlemen who fell ill upon finishing. They went above and beyond and I'm sure they'll be grateful of the donation we'll be giving them for their amazing support. I'll no doubt be back next year. See you on November 5th 2023 Phil xx |
